Ty's 13 month update

Ty is now one year old (okay, 13 months) and I haven't had a lot of time to do an update at what he's doing these days.

-is walking across the room on his own
-loves his new forward facing carseat so he can see Mom and Dad
-doesn't really talk. He says "nana" for banana and "dada" for Dad. Still no "mama", but I can't wait for the day that happens.
-he does the sign for "eat"
-folds his arms when we tell him to for prayers, and even a couple times has said "anen" for amen.
-is SO attached to Dad. He got really use to having him home for 4 months and now that Michael is back at work, Ty usually wants Dad for everything when he's home.
-sleeps 12-14 hours a night straight!! I could get used to this!
-HATES diaper changes. As soon as we lay him down, he is bawling his head off. I try to use distractions but he cries 90% of the time
-had started to cry when he doesn't get something he wants... it's kind of funny sometimes to see his face scrunch up and see how he can get himself crying so hard over not being able to play with the printer for example.
-he is always giving kisses to us. Sometimes we have to ask, sometimes he just comes up to us and offers one or two. Open mouth of coarse, but aren't those the best baby kisses?
-if he ever hears any type of a beat, he will be dancing, and by dancing I mean a bouncing squat, or nodding his head.
-whenever we go get him from his crib, he grabs his blanket and holds it up for us. Not really sure what he wants us to do with it, but it's cute. He doesn't have a lovey or anything so we are always confused by the gesture. :)
-his feet are still too fat to wear shoes. Yep, we have a 1 year old that never wears shoes. We have a lot for him but they won't fit on his feet. His toes go in but right after the toes, his foot turns into a little ball, and won't go in any further. It's funny, but hopefully they slim down a bit so he can walk around in public areas.

We started talking about what we think his personality will be like. We think he will be sociable but not the center of attention (he is quite social with strangers, never shy), silly (he likes to be a bit goofy, but I guess most kids do), and smart (because he loves books). We think he will like gadgety(?) stuff (not sure if thats what you would call it) and books. He has a lot of toys but he seems to prefer my computer drawers, our lightswitch on the stairs, and our cupboards.

We love this age he is at. He is silly, and loves to play, and we love watching him learn new things.

Petersen Reunion 2012

This is the second consecutive Petersen reunion we have had. This year it was at the Rempel's cabin, on the Okanagan Lake! We had a lot of fun seeing family that we don't get to see very often. Joelene has had two kids since the last reunion (which was two years ago), and Kristy, who I actually haven't seen in SIX years, is pregnant with her third. So it was awesome to catch up and meet these babies that have joined the family. We had fun playing in the water, visiting, and relaxing. Ty was really good there and it was fun to have most of the family meet him for the first time!
Ty enjoying his peas like a good boy should.
Dad and Ty playing in the kiddie pool.
Our hike to some falls. Ty is SMILING!
 At the top!
 My hubs
Here is Kristy and I with her oldest. This is the only photo of me with a cousin that turned out. The rest of them we all don't have makeup on and I'm sure no one would appreciate them being posted on the world wide web.
Ty about to go on his first boat ride. He loved it. And me, getting ready to go tubing. I broke my collarbone tubing behind a seadoo once so I was kind of nervous but it was fun!
 Karlee and me!
4 guys (including Michael), went on these board while the boat drove around making waves, and they tried to see who could stay on the best. Michael did really well considering he tore his achilles only four months ago. I never got any photos of them doing it, but here is Michael on one the morning just before we headed home.

In other news, Michael is back to work. He only works 4 hours a day for the first two weeks, then 6 hours a day, then back to regular hours. The transition is going well, and he is doing really well on his leg! What a long 4 months!

Camping at Wally's Beach Campground

We are SO lucky to have such amazing friends. We were able to plan a little camping trip here in Southern Alberta. It wasn't the greatest campground, but it was still fun to just be with our close friends. We had a three month old, a one year old, and a six months along prego! Here are some photos of our weekend.
 Roasting some smokies.

Making pies. Peanut butter, marshmallow, chocolate, and banana!
 Campfire
 haha Dusty
 Lunchtime.
The only way we could keep Ty contained. Michael and I LOVE to camp, but let me tell you, it's super hard with a one year old! We took Ty camping when he was 6 weeks old, and it was so easy. At his age now, he won't fall asleep while the sun is out.. which makes for a cranky kid. We need a trailer!!!
 Hiding from the rain.
With our headlamps. Are ya loving my socks with my shoes? :)
After camping, it was SUCH a beautiful day we decided to go to Waterton. It was about 34 degrees and absolutely NO WIND. We relaxed at the spray park, ate the rest of our camping food, and played in the water. Probably one of my favorite parts of the summer so far. I just love my little family.
Catching some rays in my clothes.. haha
Ty was just loving the strawberries.
My boys! Ahh, I'm obsessed with them!
A couple of my favorite people after a win at their soccer game!
At the end of the summer, Jessica and Jake will be moving to Edmonton for law school, and shortly after they will be welcoming their little girl. We are so sad they won't be so close to us anymore. Nikki is possibly moving up to Edmonton as well, which is also super sad. I feel so lucky we have them all right here in Lethbridge and now they are all packing up and leaving us!! Love you all!

Summer=Fun

We have been having such a fun summer so far. I feel like I am always planning and preparing for the next thing, and it's AWESOME. Here are some recent photos of what we've been up to.
He's smiling for a picture! Wohoo. Snuggling with my little boy.

We went out last Saturday to Wally's Beach with some family and rode the sea doos, and playing in the water and sand! The sea doos are my favorite, but here is Ty playing in the water and sand. He loved it.
Me and my sis! As you can see, I have a really hard time with swimsuits. Everything I own is mismatched, and especially since having a baby, many of the swimsuits I already own aren't flattering at all on me... Trust me. So here I am TOTALLY mismatched.
Ty waving from the sea doos with Grandpa Parker. He LOVED being on this. He didn't even go for a ride, but was just so happy to be standing on the side.
Here is Ty chilling out before the Canada Day parade in Raymond; an annual tradition.
Us in our matching Canada Day shirts.
Ty and I waving the flag during the parade.
